Yosemite - Bay Area

This is El Capitan, very amazing in person! It would have been a fun rock climb, if I was a climber!

This was our second place we stayed just out side of Yosemite.  It was a fun park with free warm showers, a swimming pool, laundry, deli, little store, and a petting farm!  :) The down side, the sites were all this red sandish dirt, the girls were filthy all the time!

 Pictures from within Yosemite

This was our little hike up to Yosemite Falls.  The girls had to pose in front of the water fall... the exposure didn't turn out so well for the falls, sorry.

Once we got up to the water fall, it was really one of those, you have to be there to see it, cause the pictures don't give you the WOW that you feel when you are there.  You feel like a little ant in this giant forest and these massive rocks.  It was amazing!  This would have also been a fun thing to hike if we didn't have the little ones!

Coming back down from the falls, Bridget spotted these baby ducks with their mamma in the little steam....
 Then we ran into THIS....

And this when we got back to the truck.

This is a view from the top of the Yosemite Valley. Once again, amazing in person!
We also drove this very scary road that is 3 ft narrower than a normal rode, (we found this out when we got pulled over for crossing the double line!) to see this, it was VERY beautiful!  This place is called Hetch Hetchy which is the source for power and drinking water for the the San Fransisco Bay areas.

They were hiding from me in the tunnel to the Hetch Hetchy lake.

Kaitlyn bookin' it out of the tunnel because she "heard a bear" :)

Bridget tried to take a picture of Josh and I.  this is what we got! :)
Coming down this thing was crossing the road.  We stopped to check it out, but it slithered up into the bushes.  Josh threw a water bottle at it so it would come back down. I told Josh that he would get a $1000 fine for littering if he was caught, so this is about where I almost pee'd myself laughing at how scared Josh is of snakes!!!  sure enough, it came slithering out after him as soon as he picked up the bottle... HILARIOUS!
After long days of driving curvy roads and in the sun, the girls were more than ready to go swimming!

Here are the alpaca's that were at the petting farm along with miniture donkeys, 3 different kinds of goats, and chickens.

Bridget got this booklet of things to look for while in Yosemite, she had to fill pages out to be awarded a Little Ranger.  She was very excited!

Yes you were'nt supposed to feed the wildlife, but Josh thought it was funny that this squirrel went to town on this cheeto!
They both wanted these jounior ranger hats.  they thought they were pretty cool.

on the bus to see other things around the park.
 Checking out the Indian area.

Josh combing K-Bob's hair after we got all clean in the warm shower!
 Yosemite Pines
As we were leaving, there were wild turkeys that were chasing us down!
After driving all over to non-exsisting locations for CNG fuel, we finally found one in Oakland.
After burning out our E-brake, we had to make a trip to the man store to get a few tools to take it apart so that it didn't sound like we were dragging wedding cans behind our truck!
This was our next location just out of Oakland called Anthony Chabot that was a grove of Eucalyptus trees... it was a very interesting place.  Very nice.
We woke up to more wild turkeys, then Josh fixed the brake.

yeah, the hardware was pretty mangled. The rest of the trip I was praying that our regular brakes wouldn't fail as we had to go through the mountains.
We took the girls to this Fairyland in Oakland. It was highly recommended, but having being built in the 50's, I personally, wouldn't pay  8 bucks a person again.
The girls were entertained at least.
