Teddy Bear Run 2008

Every year, Logan has a motorcycle donation run for Child Abuse. Every Bike rides with a teddy bear strapped to their bike for the 60 mile ride. This year we got to participate. This was our third charity ride this summer, and definitely the biggest!

There were two rest stops during the ride. (Thank Goodness!) When we came back through Logan we were able to ride down Main Street, where in previous years had been problems so they had to ride other roads. I think there were at least 500 bikes, but I'm not sure.

It turned out to be a pretty warm day. Sardine Canyon was pretty to go through with the leaves changing. But the best part was the smell of skunk! Ahhh... the joys of the wind in your face!

The ride ended at the Fair Grounds where they gave "raffle" prizes. And we gave our Bears.
(this time we won a Leatherman type thing and a car wash)

(us placing out bear with the rest. ... don't mind my helmet hair!)

The Teddy Bear Run this year raised just over $11,000.

Our Re-Anniversary

So good news...
The Blue Boar Inn called us last week and said they wanted us back. This time it was all on them!

Josh and I headed down after nursery on Sunday. We got there about 7 p.m.. We were both really nervous about check-in. "Oh look it's those people again..." Anyways, They were really nice and appologetic and tried their hardest to please us this time.

The Jane Austin Room

Josh and I attempted to watch the rest of the first season of Heros I got to finish the one that Josh finished without me, but when we got to the next... Josh realized he brought the wrong episodes.
So we called it a night since we had to be in Heber City by 6:30 am!

I don't know if Josh was nervous about the balloon ride, or really did have a back ache, but he was up by 4:30, and I "slept in" until 5:30. We got all ready and snuck out of the Inn in the dark.

We drove to the Holliday Inn where we were supposed to meet the Balloon guy. There we met two other couples that were going to be sharing the ride with us.

We drove out to the airport where there was enough room for them to lay out the 10 story Balloon to inflate.

While we waited, we both had to sign our lives away, saying that we won't sue if we died. (how could we?)

(See the fear in those eyes?)

After the balloon was up, we all climbed in. I do have to say that the basket was stronger than I thought it would have been.

after we were up more than 2000 feet, the winds died. So we just hovered. It was still an amazing experiance!

we ended up traveling about a mile in distance.

When we were coming back to earth.... I thought we were going to hit a tree... then we past it.

laying it down

rolling it out, and packing it away.

So yeah, although we had to make a second trip, and HAD to stay another night, and HAD to eat free breakfast again, and Had to ride the balloon for an hour instead of a half hour...

Yes, we did have a Happy Re-Anniversary!

A true Vacation...

No kids, no phones, no responsibility. A true vacation... Kinda.

So our anniversary was this last week. Josh DID book a room at the Blue Boar Inn in Midway. I was very excited! He showed me the suite he had booked ($298) I didn't think that was worth paying for one night, so I called and changed the room to a "less expensive" ($175) one. I had previously told him I wanted to go somewhere that had a really elegant suite type room... So since I also mentioned I wanted to go to the Blue Boar Inn (Only from hearing about it on Good Things Utah, and not seeing pictures of the rooms) He tried to do both. (even though it looked like grandma's house)
He also purchased the Hot Air Balloon ride with it (another $200+) which I was REALLY excited about!

We arrived at the Inn Wednesday afternoon. When we were taken to the room the girl was telling us about breakfast, and asked if we wanted dinner in the restaurant. When she was telling us about the breakfast she said that we needed to be ready for the Balloon ride a little before 8 am. So we would have to do breakfast after.

The Emily Dickinson
(there were "Happy Anniversary Balloons ready for us)

After we brought our stuff from the car to the room, we took off to find some lunch/dinner.
We ended up walking up and down Park City's Main street four times before we could both decide on a place. After I accumulated 6 blisters on my feet from not wearing socks, we ate at Bandits. A place we ate when we went down for Josh's birthday 3 years ago.

When we got back, I soaked my feet while Josh went down to make sure that everything was all set up for the Balloon ride in the morning. (They now told us that they would come get us between 6:30-7 am for the Balloon) Also... before we went to Park City, the girl had mentioned leaving the key at the front desk and they would do a "turn down" for when we got back. We thought a turn down was changing the sheets... why? we hadn't even touched the bed yet! So when he came back from asking about the ride...

They sent him with the rose they would have put on the bed if we would have known.

Thinking that it was a little early to have to wake up for a getaway... we set our alarm for 6.
We waited and waited for them to come get us, or call... At 8 we went to eat. We headed down to the restaurant.

After breakfast Josh checked again about the balloon. They said they would call us when they heard anything from the balloon operator.... to be continued -->
